Iceland change its mind: will no longer be part of the European Union.
The Icelandic government has withdrawn its application for becoming a member of the European Union.
But according to statistics it is not only the government it that has changed its mind. Icelanders are becoming more and more reserved with the idea of joining the European Union.
The accession to the Union, which the country asked in 2009 after the collapse of the financial system, that happened inmediately after the collapse of Lehman Brothers in autumn 2008, caused the collapse of three banks in this country.
Iceland, at the time, also dealed with the weakness of their own currency. It seems now they no longer wish to belong to the European Union.
